About Michael

Michael Russell is an independent filmmaker currently based Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and St. Louis, Missouri. He has experience in both the independent filmmaking and commercial spaces, contributing as a Grip, Gaffer, Sound Mixer, Writer, and Director. 

Although he spent over a decade dedicated to music, Michael transitioned into the film industry in his late teens, working as a Grip on local projects before writing and directing Family Video in the spring of 2025, marking his debut as a filmmaker. 

Michael's next project is currently in the pre-production stage while he works towards starting work on a feature film. Michael is currently in the Film & Media Studies program at The University of Oklahoma and intends to graduate with a BA in 2027.
